On Monday, when the curtain rises on the Naverus Performance Based Navigation (PBN) Summit in Seattle, there’ll be nearly twice as many participants as there were at the event’s debut last year. More than 150 experts from major airlines, airframe manufacturers, airports and air traffic management organizations will share information about advanced navigation and airspace management techniques that are helping the aviation industry save fuel, cut carbon emissions, reduce noise and untangle traffic congestion in busy airspace.
The PBN Summit provides a forum for organizations and people who are actively deploying real-world applications of Performance Based Navigation. Participants from the U.S., Asia, South America, Africa and Europe are attending the conference at the Bell Harbor Conference Center. Naverus, which is the lead sponsor and organizer of the Summit, also is the world’s leading developer of advanced Performance Based Navigation procedures.
In an open letter to Summit attendees, Naverus CEO Steve Forte said he wasn’t surprised by the increased interest. “Performance Based Navigation has gathered tremendous momentum worldwide and is being used in more and more applications. After experiencing the economic difficulties of the year we’ve just had, it makes sense that airlines, airports and air traffic management organizations are increasing their investment in initiatives that can provide relief,” he said.
Conference attendees represent a who’s-who of aviation industry players, including: Southwest Airlines, Delta, Qantas, Air Services Australia, UPS, The International Air Transport Association (IATA) and many others. The conference website is available at:
